The goal was to have simple and clean navigation. Most users were parents from different nationalities and backgrounds. I wanted the information to be easy to locate and the site content-lite to maintain focus on the artwork.

Using a program called "Balsamiq" as a wireframing tool, I decided to go with a single page HTML5/CSS3 site. The purpose was to make the site look and feel like a continuous brush stroke or a pallete of paint pots laid out on a table. The photo gallery slides left to right and an image opens up in a seperate window when selected.

This is the final Hi-Res mock up of the final product.

I designed the logo using a brush tip marker to mimic brush strokes of a paint brush. Circles were used throughout the site served to provide a soft, warm feel, and provide a nice frame to the art work.

The inspiration beind the colour theme was spring, children's tea parties, easter hunts, pastry shops, and Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. I wanted the mood to remain light, fun, and whimsical. The main font used was Century Gothic for its readability and frequent use in children's books.

The mobile version of the site features larger type size and a semi-exaggerated line height to prevent users from pressing the wrong category or stretching their thumb out too far to reach the menu.

We came up with a few possible site navigation ideas. Because Beverley's work was so diverse, we organized her portfolio into three categories.

The font selected was Didot for its strong link to elegance and fashion. Body text is Avenir, a Mac OS staple, making a statement she was a designer and her focus is working with creative professionals.

The hi-res wirefame of the site displays a one page parallax site to mimic layers upon layers of fabric laid on top of each other. We liked the idea of scrolling from section to section because it looked lika material coming off a roll. The patterned background added a visual structure to the site and made it look expensive.

Beverley needed a site to represent how dynamic, clean, and forward thinking she was. We decided to go with a parallax site because it was trendy and seamless. She loves architecture and texture, but didn't want the site to look chaotic. We went with the hexagon shape because it was "in" but it also has an upward point showing she was always moving up in the fashion and film world.

RanInto began as a "blue sky" case study for a user. When the user attended networking events, they often relied on their intuition to single out a small group or individual they would approach. The user wanted a tool that would help solidify their reading on a person and therefore provide confidence to approach individuals whilst decreasing the amount of time second guessing their intuition.

When working out the navigation of the app, the goal was to keep it easy for the user to receive as much information as possible from a quick glance while maintaining discreet. I made icons and text large and distinct. Menu navigation is always accessible and in the same spot to prevent getting lost in the app.

I went with a darker, muted colour palette to keep things discreet and kept the text white to enable high contrast and easy reading. The geometric background and shapes aided in keeping the look balanced and easy on the eyes. Complimentary colors were used to distinct a positive matche. Jarring colours when they it was a negative match. The font is Gill Sans selected for its readability and minimal strain on the eyes.

How RanInto works:

Prior to an event, the user would put on a ring and earpiece that reads their body temperature. They open up the app and begin the scan.

The app provides a chakra/energy reading for day. Then lists the chakras/energies that would compliment the reading. The earpiece play a tones associated with the chakra/energy in conjunction with harmonizing tones of the complimentary chakras/energies.

Next, the app indicates which chakras/energies they should try to avoid. A jarring tone will play to provide an audio indication.

At the event, the user turns the app on and scans the room of event attendees. their energy will fluctuate as they start "reading" the room. Once they single out and focus on an individual, the app will provide them with a tone and energy reading and how much they are currently in sync. The user can then decide whether or not to approach that person.

If the user decides to approach the individual, he can shake hands. The ring on their finger will read the individual's energy and play the harmonizing or jarring tones, confirming the match.

This app was an experimental "blue sky" concept, but it a fun exercise nonetheless to become better accquainted and come up with creative solutions to a fear of networking.

Carrie asked me to rebrand her and design a logo. She wanted to incorporate a pair of wings and her initials.

After meeting with Carrie, I thought about how her story affected me. When designing this logo, these three words came to mind: Strong, Loving, and Resilient.

The logo has these meanings:

The letters "C" and "B" represent Carrie's name.

The image is a pair of wings folded and prepared to take flight. One side is broken, but despite the scar, it is strong and in position to soar.

There is also a pair of wings folding in to show an open embrace. The break in between show our arms welcome you if you need someone to turn to.

There is the symbol of a heart. This symbolizes love, passion, and unity. Carrie has risen above her past because of the love and support in her life. She is passionate about her story.

We kept the navigation site simple and focused on maximizing sale of the book and speaker bookings.

The color palette is a sunset because it had very deep meaning and symbolism with Carrie. We went with a golden and purple palette to maintain the feel of the sunset without it being too earthy.

he font we selected was Monteserrat for the headings and Open Sans for sub headings and body text. Monteserrat kept the look cohesive with her book and Open Sans was selected for its readability

Carrie wanted the site to have a storyline feel and loved the idea of having a parallax scroll. As you scroll from section to section, the site was laced with a hopeful image and a quote from the book. Her goal was to show she was not a victim, but a strong woman who has overcome her dark past and is now the voice of so many helpless women who are still trapped.

Overall Carrie loved her site and rebranding and extremely happy with the results. The launch was quite successful and has increased followers to her site and bookings for multiple events.
